Janelle MonĂ¡e Embarking On Age Of Pleasure Tour, Beginning Late August

Janelle Monáe has announced that they will embark on their nationwide Age Of Pleasure Tour later this year.

The 26-city run commences on August 30 in Seattle and will make stops in major cities including Toronto, New York City, Atlanta, St. Louis, Philadelphia, and Dallas. The tour will wrap in Inglewood, Calif. at the YouTube Theater on October 18.

News of the tour comes ahead of Monáe’s highly-anticipated new album, The Age of Pleasure—which is slated for release on June 9. Their clever new single, “Lipstick Lover,” is currently making rounds with a spicy visual to match.

However, the 37-year-old free spirit issued the “clean virgin” alternate video just yesterday (May 30). “Aight after much back and forth and private court dates i decided to release the sinsored ‘clean virgin’ of ‘Lipstick Lover’ against my will,” they declared. “I added 100 more pixels by hand so y’all bet not sneak and watch the original. It’s still very cool to me. Enjoy loves!”

Coco Jones Earns First Gold RIAA Certification With "ICU"

Coco Jones is cementing her meteoric rise with yet another accolade under her belt. The Bel-Air star’s breakout single, “ICU,” has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as of Tuesday (May 30). The feat came one week after Jones scored her first No. 1 hit on Billboard‘s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart for the week of May 27.

The DJ Camper-produced record was first released in October 2022, ahead of the arrival of her major label debut EP, What I Didn’t Tell You. It currently has amassed over 20 million streams on Spotify and is sitting at No. 67 on the Billboard Hot 100.

“My first number one! This is so surreal for me and I am so grateful,” the 25-year-old wrote on Instagram while basking in the moment. “Thank you to everybody who has supported the record, all the stations who played it, all the fans who listened in, my team, and God for the continuous blessings! Just getting started!”

When recently speaking on the emotional gravity behind performing the record at Mary J. Blige’s Strength Of A Woman Festival, Jones told VIBE, “I always get emotional, one, because I was even emotional recording the song. When you bare your heart like that as an artist, it’s hard for it to not affect you whenever you sing a song, because you know exactly what you need. But also, I get so grateful when I can hear the crowd. So, to hear them sing, just like at the top of their lungs, is just always… It reminds me of how long my journey has been.”

She continued, “It reminds me of when I was a little kid and I had success and I was like, ‘Wow, what is this? How long is this going to go?’ And it just takes me back in time to me as a little kid and wanting to be right where I’m at right now, and it’s finally here and I’m finally here again. I didn’t know when it was going to happen, if it was going to happen. So there’s just a lot of feelings, a lot.”

“ICU” landed at No. 6 on VIBE’s Best R&B Songs of 2022 list while What I Didn’t Tell You rounded out the Best R&B Albums of 2022 list at No. 23.

“It’s not about money, it’s about accountability,” Valentino explained to the outlet after the lawsuit was filed. “Rape steals something from you that cannot be repaired or restored.”

Her story describes meeting Cosby while she worked as an actress and singer. In 1969, the two crossed paths at a Los Angeles restaurant. Publicly crying over the death of her 6-year-old son, Valentino claims Cosby greeted her and later on in the day, gave her a pill to feel better.

“In my opinion, these women are not victims of sexual assault, they are victims of greed,” Cosby spokesman Andrew Wyatt shared with the Post. According to the outlet, the number of accusers against Bill Cosby currently stands at 60.

Wyatt continued, “They don’t want this Black man to leave this earth as America’s dad. They don’t want white kids looking up to him as America’s dad and wanting their fathers to be like him.”

In 2018, Cosby was found guilty by a Philadelphia jury of aggravated indecent assault against Andrea Constand in 2004. During the trial, five women who accused Cosby of drugging and assaulting them were allowed to testify as “prior bad acts.” The actor did not testify in his defense.

The conviction, however, was overturned in 2021 and Cosby was released from prison after the state’s highest court concluded an agreement with a previous prosecutor prevented him from being charged in the case after serving two years of his 10-year sentence.

Last year, Cosby was found liable for sexually assaulting another woman, Judy Huth, when she was 16 years old in 1975. Huth claims Cosby was aware of her age, advising her to say she was 19. The civil case was brought in front of a combined jury of eight women and four men and the victim was awarded $500,000 in damages with no punitive compensation.
