Fox Says Bye Bye Sanaa

FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like the network isn’t interested.

The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, Stephen Moyer, and Tristan Wilds.

Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.

Unofficial word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back and Prince-Bythewood has confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s end.
